Christmas Time in the City

Happy Sunday! Well, we are a week into December, and I am thoroughly in Holiday Mode. The tree is up, the house is decorated, the gingerbread house is made, and the gifts are rolling in every day. My students are also very excited. It is hard not to get into the Christmas spirit when you are surrounded by kids who are getting more excited by the minute.

We have had such a nice weekend. Tony and I decided to go for a walk around downtown Buffalo to see some of the Christmas sights. I have always wanted to go to New York City around this time of the year, but for now, our beautiful city will do. We took these photos at Canalside. We got hot chocolates, watched the ice skaters, and took in the festive scene of the the tree above the rink with the twinkling lights and the garlands strung on all of the railings. Everyone was in such a great mood, and it was a wonderful atmosphere. Canalside is wonderful in all seasons, and you can't miss a visit in the winter, even if you don't plan on ice skating, just taking it all in is just as fun. They also have ice bikes and ice bumper cars as well, which look super fun too. I went curling there a few years ago, and that was an experience. An experience that included falling quite hard on my backside, but what a cool sport! They have new igloos you can rent as well, hot chocolate included to warm up!

I layered my Jcrew Factory cape that has been on repeat all season long over an old cozy sweater that my mom handed down to me. I love its black and white winter pattern.

When we just got to too chilly walking around, we headed home and watched movies all afternoon and evening. We also put together an amazing overnight French Toast casserole recipe that we enjoyed this morning for coffee. Does anyone else always have the struggle of what to do for breakfast on the weekends? Do you go out, or stay in? Do we actually have an ingredients? This recipe did not disappoint. Now we are watching football, and will enjoy some snacks and a dinner in with my brother and his girlfriend resting up for the week ahead. Supposedly we are due for a lot of snow, so we will see!

Does where you live decorate for the holidays? What are your favorite places to see holiday decorations? Buffalo friends, any great places to see decorations that you recommend?

I hope everyone has a great week and is enjoying the holiday season!
