The weekend was off to a strong start on Friday. It was a staff day only at school so I got out earlier than usually, and Tony had the day off as well, so we took advantage of the beautiful day and headed to one of our favorite parks to go for a walk with Oscar who actually cooperated for some photos, and I am obsessed with how they turned out he is just so cute. We headed to our favorite tree lined path which is just bursting with color and crunch fallen leaves to take these photos.
Saturday was extremely gray and windy, so we just stayed home and baked an apple crisp with apples from apple picking last weekend. Then Sunday, due to no Bills game, we had the whole day to fill and it was a beautiful one, so we went for another leaf peeping adventure to Zoar Valley south of Buffalo. We filled our thermoses with coffee and got pumpkin donuts on the way, and set out in the sunshine. It is a beautiful spot to go hiking, just please be very careful if you go, both on top of the gorge and walking in the gorge. Wear appropriate footwear and pay attention to any caution signs and do not go beyond them. I had never been this time of the year, and it was an absolutely gorgeous drive down and of course there at the gorge as well. I love hiking in the fall.
Then we did our annual pumpkin painting! When I saw there was going to be beautiful weather this weekend I knew it was the perfect time so that we could do it outside. I turned my large pumpkin into a deer, and tried out the fingerprint ghosts I saw Abby from Belle of the Ball try on instagram. That one would be perfect for kids. I am not a kid haha but I had so much fun doing it anyway! Of course I had to buy and make the pumpkin sugar cookies that are now a pumpkin painting tradition.
It was a fantastic weekend. It is nice to have an extra day to catch up on some things as well, and then hopefully watch the Bills game tomorrow night!

My favorite part of these photos (outfit wise, I am very sure Oscar and the beautiful scenery steal the show) is the plaid cape. I love how long and cozy it is, I plan to throw it on in the mornings before it gets to cold, and I've been snuggling up in it at home for an extra layer.
I am loving these weekends spent with roadside pumpkin stands, beautiful leaves, long drives and cozy meals. I hope everyone has a great week!
